Unity in Action: 509 Task Forces Forge Strong Bonds with Buwisiga Villagers

Intan Jaya – In a heartwarming display of unity and service, the Raider Infantry Battalion 509/Balawara Yudha Kostrad, operating under the Indonesian Armed Forces Operational Command HABEMA, carried out a vital social communication mission in Buwisiga Village, Sugapa District, Intan Jaya Regency, Papua Tengah Province, on Friday, November 22, 2024. This initiative highlights their dual commitment to security and community development in one of Indonesia’s most remote regions.

Led by First Lieutenant Wanianto, soldiers from the Holomama Post seized the opportunity during routine patrols to engage with the Buwisiga community. The mission, centered on fostering trust and cooperation, also saw the distribution of food packages, much to the delight of local residents.

“This is not just about securing the area, ” said Lieutenant Colonel Dian Dessiawan Setyadi, Commander of the 509 Task Forces. “It’s about creating meaningful connections with the people we protect. Their well-being is integral to the peace and progress of this region.”

The villagers, in turn, embraced the soldiers with warmth and gratitude. Mama Ria Tabuni, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her heartfelt thanks: “Thank you, Commander 509. God bless.” Her words embody the sense of community strengthened by these interactions.

Acknowledging the initiative, Brigadier General Lucky Avianto, Commanding General of HABEMA, commended the efforts: “The actions of the 509 Task Forces are a testament to the TNI’s commitment to inclusive communication and collaboration with all stakeholders. This is how we build a stronger, more developed Papua.”
